Letter From the President

We are getting ready for Translational Science 2022. It is a new world for conventions and meetings. ACTS is embracing the challenge and preparing a great in-person meeting in Chicago. We are also exploring the possibility of a virtual component to make sure that we can accommodate all our members.

You should expect the same level of scientific rigor that our scientific committees have always employed to create the program. This year we want to highlight our community, our committees, and our special interest groups. We want to ensure that our program meets the needs of our members and that we can provide you with the up-to-date knowledge and skills you need to continue producing great clinical and translational science.

Our Planning Committee is led by our President-Elect, Dr. Linda Cottler, who is committed in creating an event that includes activities for all members of the clinical and translational research team. We also want to make sure to include the topics that are important to you. For this reason, we are accepting scientific session proposals until November 1st and poster submission through November 29th. Please visit our website to find more information for a successful submission. We want to hear from all our members and presenting at Translational Science 2022 is an excellent way to communicate with us. We also want to make sure that we have representation from all our members, from scholars to principal investigators to research coordinators. Everyone in the clinical and translational research endeavor has an important contribution for our community.

We are also excited to hold the meeting in Chicago. Since we value inclusion, we want to make sure that our members from all parts of the United States can participate in our activities. I know our members are used to gathering in Washington, D.C. and this is a change. For us, this is a welcomed opportunity to be able to reach our members from other parts of the United States. We are working on having all the components that Translational Science usually has even though we will be physically distant from the research activities with a base in Washington, D.C. Just as a clinical and translational science workforce we have been able to move forward with our work through a pandemic, we are open to the experience of meeting in-person as a community while making sure that we are safe and comfortable.

Registration will open soon, and we are expecting all of you to join us. We are preparing a meeting where we can celebrate and gather as a community, reflect on the lessons learned since we last met and honor the losses we have experienced. We will do this at Translational Science 2022 by moving forward with our contributions in clinical and translational science that will lead us into a more equitable and healthy society. I am looking forward to greeting everyone in Chicago very soon.
