Letter From the President

For over 10 years, the Association for Clinical and Translational Science (ACTS) has led the field and supported those who apply scientific methodologies to accelerate advances in human health. The last few years have been about flexibility and pivoting to best serve you, and while we continue to navigate new situations, the commitment of all of us at ACTS remains steadfast.

Part of that commitment is our annual meeting where scientists and community at all levels come together to share ideas relevant to translational science and clinical research to advance human health.

This year’s meeting--Translational Science 2023—brings us back to Washington, DC for a fully in-person experience to explore innovating translational science for research together. The scientific sessions and networking opportunities officially begin April 18-20 with pre-meeting activities involving our special interest groups (SIGS) starting on April 17. Take a look at the schedule for a preview of what to expect at Translational Science 2023. The Program Committee has planned terrific sessions with national and international experts in biostatistics and data science to team science, populations science, and health equity.

On behalf of ACTS, I invite you to join us in Washington, DC in April to share new ideas, broaden your skills, and ignite your passion for translational science and clinical research. New this year: non-members will get a complimentary individual ACTS membership with the purchase of a registration to the Translational Science 2023 conference. In addition to a discount on your conference registration, you will also enjoy all ACTS member benefits too. #TS23xInnovate

News From the Hill: February 24, 2023

Traditionally, the appropriations process begins on Capitol Hill with the releases of the administration’s annual non-biding budget request to Congress. The tentative date for this is at the start of February, but with the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 process not completed until the end of December last year, the Biden Administration has pushed back the release of its FY 2024 proposal until mid-March. While simply guidance, the document will outline the administration’s priorities for ARPA-H and related agencies in a broad sense as well as feedback on the CTSA program and other activities, specifically.
