Letter From the President

The vacation went well. I enjoyed the Caribbean Sea, I read all of the past issues of my magazines, and completed my “to do” list, wrote thank you notes and rejuvenated. Now.... back to work. I am thinking about our organization—ACTS—and what contributions we all make to promote healthier communities, to be leaders and agents of change, to initiate efforts that can positively affect our communities’ health and wellness. I think about how we all work together to make a difference by collaborating on projects from the bench to the community on issues that are listed at the top of people’s concerns-- issues like Food security, Comorbid illnesses, HIV and other infectious diseases, Mental health, Maternal health, Overdose, Aging, and many others.

I am also thinking of how people, like all of you, enjoy sharing study findings, and discussing studies and methods that have been impactful.  I think of how you have inspired so many people with your projects and how important it is to share these findings and methods with all of us.

We need you to do this at TS24 and for TS24.  You are invited to submit your symposium ideas; submit your findings; submit your workshop ideas. The meeting depends on you! Here is the link to the call for proposals: https://www.actscience.org/Translational-Science/Call-for-Proposals

Translational Science 2024: Call for Scientific Sessions and Abstract Proposals Now Open!

The Translational Science 2024 call for scientific sessions and abstract proposals is now open! Information and submission guidelines can be found here. Please note, if accepted for a poster submission and/or session, you must attend in person in Las Vegas to present.

• Scientific Sessions: 60-minute concurrent scientific programming sessions organized as you wish and described in your session proposal.
• Posters: research based posters eligible for a short oral platform presentation or poster presentation and published in JCTS.

News From the Hill: September 2023

Heading into the August congressional recess, all eyes in the political world are on the U.S. Senate. Currently, the Senate Appropriations Committee is planning to mark up Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 spending bills for Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (L-HHS), the Department of Defense (DOD), and a few others. Meanwhile, the Senate Finance Committee is advancing work on Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform, which is quickly becoming a vehicle for other health and patient care policy items. Similarly, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee is working on a reauthorization of the Pandemic All Hazards Preparedness and Response Act and pulling in additional items related to medical research and patient care.

Society of Clinical Trials (SCT) 45^th Annual Meeting: Contributed Oral/Poster Proposals are Open!

An abstract for a short presentation of topic relevant to the clinical trials is requested. The Primary Contact/Author can edit the submission in the portal until the associated submission deadline as indicated on the portal. All abstracts submitted by the designated submission deadline will be considered the final versions. No additional editing can be made after the submission deadline. More information can be found here.
