Letter From the President
As in any professional organization, our members are our priority at ACTS. We have our institutional members which are the academic organizations that are involved in the clinical and translational science research endeavor. From these institutional members we have universities with robust Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) programs sponsored by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) as well as institutions who are still developing their clinical translational research infrastructure through the support of the research capacity building programs of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). We also have individual members who do not belong to one of these institutions but are still engaged in clinical and translational research.
All our members have one thing in common- we are dedicated to advancing the field of clinical and translational science. As an association, we do this by gathering each year at the Translational Science meeting, providing materials and webinars through our website, and promoting science through our social media platforms and our scientific journal, The Journal of Clinical and Translational Science. We are also working hard on fostering a membership community that includes all members of the clinical and translational science workforce. Through our committees and special interest groups, we offer a space to gather and collaborate.
We are continuously looking for better ways to serve our members. From holding a virtual Translational Science 2021 to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic, to looking for ways to be able to meet again at Translational Science 2022. Our association wants to make sure that we are meeting our member’s expectations and needs. But we are certain that we could be doing more. That is why we need to hear from you, our members, on what ACTS can do for you.
If you have ideas or suggestions for ACTS, we welcome your comments. You can also voice your opinion by joining one of our special interest groups. Visit our website to join. If you cannot find a special interest group that meets your interest, let us know. We are committed to representing all our members and this might mean that we need to create new SIGs.
We have an important announcement regarding Translational Science 2022 that will be posted any minute. Please be on the lookout for an email from us in the upcoming days to know more about what we are planning for our next meeting.
