The Mock Study Section simulates an NIH Study Section in every detail (including the work expected). Participants will review previously submitted R, K or F applications and then participate in a formal discussion and review of the grants. At the conclusion of the review, participants will have an opportunity to compare their critiques with the actual feedback provided by the NIH. Each section is co-chaired by experienced NIH reviewers and NIH SROs from NIDDK and CSR.

As with the real NIH Study Sections all participant experts (you) are required to attend and participate fully. Time commitment: 4 - 5 hours total which includes participation in the Mock Study Section on April 19. ACTS reserves the right to charge a $10.00 no-show fee for Mock Study Sections.

Learning Objectives: To apply the guidelines for peer review as developed by the NIH: To review and critique the quality of a scientific grant application in a formal review meeting, To discuss the common weaknesses of scientific grant proposals.
